Such a fun book! I couldn't stop smiling while looking through this book. It's so creative and I like the way the notes on the pages are handwritten. This project was so well done and I love that the proceeds are going to help moms. Thanks for a great book, Sara Blakely!

About the Author

Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950) is the creator of Tarzan, one of the most popular fictional characters of all time, and John Carter, hero of the Barsoom science fiction series. Burroughs was a prolific author, writing almost 70 books before his death in 1950, and was one of the first authors to popularize a character across multiple media, as he did with Tarzan s appearance in comic strips, movies, and merchandise. Residing in Hawaii at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbour in 1941, Burroughs was drawn into the Second World War and became one of the oldest war correspondents at the time. Edgar Rice Burroughs s popularity continues to be memorialized through the community of Tarzana, California, which is named after the ranch he owned in the area, and through the Burrough crater on Mars, which was named in his honour.

Enjoy the fantasy

Edgar Rice Burroughs was one of the most imaginative and productive writers of the 20th century. Although he was most famous for his Tarzan of the Apes series, largely because of the film versions which bore no significant relationship to the novels; however, Burroughs also created the Pellucidar and Barsoom (John Carter) series. An underrated writer and sly satirist, ERB occasionally wrote crossover novels which placed a character from one series into the world of another: such a novel is TARZAN AT THE EARTH'S CORE. Regrettably, Burroughs never wrote a TARZAN ON BARSOOM. Enjoy the fantasy, the escapism, the classic adventure of Man versus Nature, versus Prehistoric Beasts, versus Primitive Man. Don't over-analyze it: just enjoy the ride!

I've read this book numerous times and it is still interesting. I think it is one of Mr. Burrough's better Tarzan entries. Combining Pelucidar myth with the Tarzan myth was a good fit.

i really enjoy all of edgar burroughs stories of TARZAN. I have all 24 issues in print and re-reading them on a kindle is a lot easer to read. one of these days I will down load the ones he wrote involving MARS. I wish more of the TARZAN books would become available at NO COST thru Amazon

This book is disappointing at best. Some of the exercises are useful, but most of the book consists of the author bragging about her own success. The book comes off as very self-indulgent, and it's difficult to get past that while working through it. The pictures were incredibly unnecessary and added no value to the book. Seemed like a brag book the author tried to package as a "self-help" book.

The road less traveled

I used this guidebook on my trip through the Dominican Republic in May 2015. Before buying it, I checked out the lonely planet 2014 guide from the library for several weeks and was unimpressed. I found the information in the rough guide more culturally relevant than the lonely planet version. It feels like the authors actually lived In the DR and have a deeper understanding of the culture. The book also saved me in a pinch when I needed last minute information on how to get from Santo Domingo to Punta Cana. I would recommend it for independent travelers who want to get to know Dominican culture.

Be sure you know this guidebook is slanted toward visits that are "rough" where you may be foraying into the underbrush and interior of the country. If you are just doing the "Tourist Thing" you wont' need this.

The best sales book ever written

I had the great pleasure of hearing Peter speak in 2000 and he had a massive impact on my insurance sales and business.He would have to be the most passionate sales person I have ever seen. I purchased several of his books to give to colleagues and clients as well, and they were just as impressed as me. Grab a copy why you can implement his ideas and watch your sales skyrocket, This is not just for insurance advisers but anyone in sales who wants to increase there income and have loads of fun doing it.

The best autobiography I have read to date

I was so impressed with this book (I finished it in three days) that I felt I had to source Mr Rosengard's email address to congratulate him. As a review, I am publishing my response below.

Dear Mr Rosengard,

You invited my work colleague to breakfast with yourself last Tuesday and he spoke so highly of his encounter that I decided to purchase your book from Amazon.

When it arrived last Thursday I thought I would take it down to Battersea Park at 18:00 and read the first bit in the sun for half an hour to see if I thought I would enjoy it. I next looked up due to noticing a drop in the ambient temperature and a darkening of the sky. It was 21:30! I’d been absolutely gripped by your book, so much so I’d finished it by Saturday morning (it was perfect company for a two hour train-ride to Birmingham!).

I just wanted to write to you to both thank and congratulate you on not only a wonderful book, but a wonderful life. Your book has reminded me that talking to strangers isn’t the crazy taboo that corporate London has made it (I’m from a village originally where talking to strangers is not only welcomed but expected!) – I’m saddened to realise that I’ve lost the want to talk to strangers but your book has inspired me to rekindle that love of it.

Your book struck the perfect balance of making me laugh, reflect and imagine all whilst being constantly amazed at the things you have managed to achieve just by making connections with others. As a young man at the tender age of 23, I now realise just how important (and fun) networking can be and I will endeavour to do much more of it moving forward. If I can have just a slither of the excitement you have had in yours, I would class mine as a life-well-lived, too!

An immedite classic - and a first time for everything...

I have never written a book review before. But then the unique genius of Peter Rosengard is that I had also never bought life insurance before - until having met him. So now I'm considerably wealthier dead, as well as if I contract a critical illness - and I have also had the joy of reading probably the funniest book since Howard Jacobson's Kalooki Nights. It is not only 'unputdownable', but is more importantly beautifully self-aware, painfully revealing and ridiculously funny. And it is quite simply, brilliantly written. A wonderful irony is that the book celebrates a life focussed on selling wealth upon death, but yet through telling the most wonderful stories of a really action-packed existence, inspires the reader to live a truly full and rich life..
